Heat and heavy rain are among the greatest climate risks for the building stock in Germany.
In order to systematically record the future climate risks for the German building stock, Wüest Partner conducted a nationwide study together with CLIMADA Technologies. The analysis is based on climate models and the entire German building stock of around 23 million buildings.
Our new analysis shows how these risks could evolve by 2050 under different emissions scenarios. Particularly striking: While the heat risk is spreading throughout Germany, heavy rain remains relevant, especially in southern Germany. It is therefore becoming increasingly important for owners, investors and municipalities to include climate risks in location and investment decisions at an early stage.
The map shows the development up to 2050 under the emission scenario SSP2–4.5 (middle ground).
